One Call 2022 - a year in review

One Call 2022 - a year in review

28th December, 2022

Wow, where has the time gone?! Another year has passed us by. So, as we’re getting over the excitement of Christmas and preparing to head into the New Year, we thought we’d reflect on our 2022 achievements.

From launching new products to winning big, we’ve certainly had a busy year…

We won at the Insurance Choice Awards, twice!

In November we had the pleasure of attending the Insurance Choice Awards 2022 and came away with not one, but TWO awards! We won ‘Best Overall Insurance Broker’ (for the 2nd year in a row!) and ‘Best Commercial Insurance Broker’.

What makes these awards even more special is the fact that they’re entirely voted for by you, our amazing customers. We really can’t thank you all enough for recognising and appreciating the hard work that our staff put in each day.

We gave back to our community

Being Doncaster born and bred, we think it’s important to give back to a community that has supported us since the very beginning. So, each year we support several local causes and charities.

Earlier this year we presented a cheque of £53,256 to Macmillan, which will help them fund an information pod at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, as well as two new workers who will provide support to those who are sadly suffering with either breast or bowel cancer.

We also raised over £6,000 for DonMentia, who provide help and support to those suffering with dementia. Our donation contributed towards funding two DonMentia ‘befrienders’ who will provide first-hand support and a friendly face to people dealing with the disease, as well as helping their families.

Finally, we fundraised for a local girl named Ellie who was sadly diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 12. Due to a series of surgeries and setbacks, Ellie was left partially paralysed and unable to walk, so we raised over £5,000 to help Ellie attend bespoke physiotherapy sessions to help her recovery.

Seeing how our support can help to change lives is so heart-warming and rewarding; we can’t wait to continue this in 2023 and for many years to come.

We celebrated our staff

Here at One Call, we’re all about rewarding our hard-working staff and celebrating their milestones.

Speaking of milestones, sisters Rebecca and Rachel recently surpassed 20 years at the company - working in various roles across the group. Their loyalty and dedication to One Call over the years deserved a very special thank you. So, back in October, we gifted them and their families a trip of a lifetime to Disney World, Florida!

Rebecca and Rachel said “The trip was amazing, we all had the best time and we can’t thank One Call enough for making this happen”.

This year, we also saw a number of staff successfully complete our ‘Course of Excellence’ programme, which is a course designed to give our aspiring leaders the skills, knowledge and experience desired to progress into leadership and management roles within the company.

Plus, several of our staff have also been given the opportunity to sit the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) exams, completely subsidised by the One Call group.

Neither of these are an easy feat, so it’s incredibly inspiring to see them demonstrate the motivation and determination to take the next step in what we hope to be a successful and fulfilling career.

We launched ‘Pay as you Drive’

We know that this year hasn’t been an easy one for many of us, thanks to the cost-of-living crisis. Here at One Call, we want to do whatever we can to alleviate some of the stress for our valued customers, so we teamed up with Trakm8 to launch ‘Pay as you Drive’ (PAYD). This innovative new product will calculate the price of your policy based on your monthly mileage, plus an upfront payment for a parked-up charge so that your vehicle is still covered for instances such as theft, fire and vandalism.

Essentially, if you drive less then you pay less, which is an ideal option for customers that are already cutting down on non-essential journeys to save on the cost of fuel. Click here to find out more about PAYD.

With all of that being said, we would like to say a massive thank you to all of our staff who work hard every day, no matter their department or role, to make fantastic achievements like these possible. We’re so proud of how far we’ve come since we began all the way back in 1995.

As this is our final blog post of 2022, we wish each and every one of you a very happy and safe New Year. We look forward to continuing to support our customers, both existing and new, in 2023.
