As standard, our tools in transit insurance provides cover for tools that are damaged, destroyed or stolen whilst your van is situated in the United Kingdom, the Channels Islands and the Isle of Man.
Overnight cover
Our tools in transit insurance provides cover for tools that are left in your van overnight. This is subject to you having taken reasonable care to secure your van and provided it isn’t left unaccompanied for 48 or more consecutive hours.
24/7 Claims team
We recognise that your tools are essential for you to be able to carry out your job and therefore provide a 24/7 claims line that enables you to submit a claim as soon as an incident has occurred.

As with all insurance policies, there are items and scenarios that aren’t covered. Here are the main ones:
- Your claim might be declined if your van has been left unattended for more than 48 consecutive hours.
- You can't make a claim for wear and tear or any associated loss in value.
- Tools and equipment that is despatched for hire and reward isn't covered.
- You can't make a theft claim where entry to your van hasn't been gained by force or violence.
- Indirect losses aren’t covered. This means you can’t make a claim for things like loss of profit, loss of income or other costs incurred as a result of your tools being damaged, destroyed or stolen.
- Your claim might be declined if your tools were damaged or destroyed as a result of them being packed in a way that is deemed to be inadequate to withstand normal handling during transit.
